Email (Electronic Mail) is basic to the internet -- an integral part of our day to day internet life. The "You've Got Mail" has brought the existence of email to millions who have yet to see a computer.

Email (Electronic Mail) is basic to the internet -- an integral part of our day to day internet life. The "You've Got Mail" has brought the existence of email to millions who have yet to see a computer.

It is fast, So fast, that most email is delivered within seconds or minutes of being sent -- any where on the planet.

It is handy. So handy, in fact, that typical postal mail has been coined "snail-mail" in comparison.

(Note: you will find email written in many different forms: e-mail, email, eMail, Email, and "egads I've got mail". I haven't seen the official Webster's Dictionary report on the matter so let's enjoy the freedom while we can and use which ever form we prefer.)

Email Terms
There are a few terms that every e-mail user should know. In case you don't know them, we list them here.

Web-Based Email
There are basically 2 types of email. Web-based email and Regular. We will start by guiding you through Webmail.

Standard Email
This is the type of email you are using with Pegasus Mail, Netscape, OutLook, Eudora and others.

Email Security Issues
Email is your friend. It can also be a gateway for bad people to send you a virus. Learn about encryption, and just plain good habits which can help protect you.
