a yahoo game applet ehh.. it might be the XP firewall that you have enabled that is seeing the applet as a potential hacker or blocked package coming down to your PC! to test this theory, turn off the XP firewall and try going into the site again.. if it works, theres your problem. if it is the problem in the XP firewall you can allow this applet to run through the firewall and not be stopped.

Hi Mary, I have just looked for the gaming specs for that applet, and it looks like it is a JAVA based applet. It will also only work if your internet browser has JAVA enabled! to do this click on TOOLS OPTIONS in internet, then click on ADVANCED tab scroll down to you find JAVA as a title, and put a tick next to JAVA CONSOLE and JIT compiler, click on apply and then OK.. you will have to restart the PC but that should do the trick. :)

I have JUST FIGURED out why I have had that problem on my (XP home)computer for a LONG TIME!

This culprit hindered the Yahoo Games and other websites, that use JavaScript, from working.

It was a POP-UP blocker program.
PANICWARE. "dpps2.exe"
By only disabling the start-up file through [run, msconfig, start-up], (even though the program was removed),
was I able to run Yahoo Games successfully.
(I still have yet to learn how to completely remove it from my start-up)

You may have a similar program beside the PANICWARE, POP-UP blocker.

After my long searching for answers through the internet, there apprears to be quite a few people who may have the same problem.

It would be good of Yahoo to add this to their HELP, and Website.

The corporate company that owns the POP-UP blocker.
http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/dpps2/

Any questions, email me, and I would be glad to help.

Open Windows Explorer
Click on View
Click on Folder Options
Click on File Types
Go down list until you find record for SWF type.
Either edit this record, or delete this record.

If you delete it and double click on a swf file, then you will be presented with the option to select how to open it again.

Another way to go is to reinstall ShockWave Flash or whatever you want to use to view swf files. Often the install will update the registry to make this work again.

Notice the word "registry"? That means you are doing dangerous stuff. Always, Always, ALWAYS, be careful when monkeying around with the registry.

Yup XP doesn't come with JAva VM due to legal issues of Microsoft with Sun. Get it from sun.java.com I think Java VM its called on the right side. Reboot then try yahoo games again.

I'm running Yahoo Chat on IE 6, it starts fine but then it is a blank screen and there are no chatters in the room (including myself) In the bottom left-hand corner it says 'Applet started' and in the top left 'Logging into the chat system'. Can someone please tell me what I can do?

I am also having problem with loading Yahoo Games. I have IE 6.0SP2 on WinXP. When I click on "click here if applet fails to laod", it just doesn't do anything. Empty command. Anyone's help is appreciated!
Miss Roxy

Lawrence my problem was solved by updating my Java software. Try that I went to: http://java.sun.com/ Let me know if it works for you!

I've got Windows 98 and was having the same problem that most of you are having with the applets not loading. To fix this (after trying all of the solutions suggested above) I used Miss Roxy's advice and (more specifically) went to:

http://java.com/en/index.jsp

And clicked on the "Free Download" link in the green box in the upper right hand corner. Once this was was installed and I restarted, the applets started working perfectly! Thank you Miss Roxy!

Hey Mark, No problem! I'm having yet another problem, and to think I just had my computer re-formatted...Maybe someone has had this happen to them and knows of a quick fix?

When I open IE 6.0 it takes a moment foe the page to load, and in the bottom left-hand corner it says "Detecting Proxy Settings" I'm not sure what that means? Any helpful insight would be great, Thanks!
