The worst customer service I have ever encountered

After buying tennis racket strings at Dick's today, I left the racket there to be stringed as expected. However, when I got home I received a call saying that since I "had not paid" for the strings, the racket could not be stringed. I was quite surprised since I had definitely paid for the strings and I still had my receipt. What most surprised and angered me was that when I called back to tell them I had paid, the manager hung up on me without apologizing. Whatever happened to customer service and satisfaction? Dick's Sporting Goods' customer service is appalling.

Don't buy anything from Dick's!!!!

Ordered a bowflex from Dick's. Come's in 5 boxes. 2 of the 5 boxes cancelled at shipping time. The other 3 show up. Customer Services says, 'we don't know what happened, we'll notify the warehouse'. Long story short, 5 calls later, they still don't know anything and haven't heard from this mythical "warehouse". Finally, the say let's pick up the 3 boxes delivered and just reorder. Stupid concept but I agree since they can't stick finger in butt. I gripe enough that they "request" a 10% savings on the reorder (not garaunteed though!). Our CS girl says they see that this item is in stock and it should ship next day. I get an e-mail that this item has been back ordered! Next call to CS says, 'we don't know what happened'. Well duh! I don't think they care much about supporting their customers. Wait till I spread this all over the web....

Horrible false advertising experience

I had to place four different orders through Dicks. Each time the Website and phone operator claimed the items were in stock. Each time I receieved an email saying they were on back order. Customer Service did not want to do anything to fix the problem. They are basically using false advertising, promising leaving the warehouse in 1-2 days with free shipping as a way to bait customers. I am reporting them to the better business bureau.

After receiving an incorrect jacket via an online order, promptly contacted Dick's by phone and mailed letter. They pledged to get me the correct one and send it to me. More than 5 weeks later, have not received the jacket, though repeated calls and emails have resulted in Dick's personnel telling me that they are still vigilantly making checks with their warehouse! Ultimately received a refund.

SHOCKINGLY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE

Bought a bicycle for our son. Four months later, he's riding it down the block and the front wheel falls off!!!! Tried to return it and were told basically, "Too bad, wheels fall off bicycles all the time. Past the ninety days. Not our problem." Nor did their national customer service seem to care. I've been riding bikes for over fifty years and known lots of riders and have never seen a wheel come off like this. Never!!!! What kind of store sells bikes to kids knowing that the wheels come off "all the time." Frightening. Wish I had read the reviews on how bad this store can be. I love my child and as a protest neither I nor any of my friends or relatives will ever shop at this place unless they change their corporate responsibility policies. If selling products that could hospitalize your child doesn't bother them, maybe a reduced bottom line might get their attention.

Very slow delivery. Uncaring customer service reps. Would rather cancel my order than help find a solution. Item said in stock, the truth is it comes from the manufacture and they don't know anything about the products or their location. Would also be nice to know that an item is an online exclusive.

Avoid shopping at Dick's... Add 2 days shipping to any order even it you chose overnight shipping. It takes 2 days for any product to leave the warehouse according the customer service. I have yet to receive my order that I paid 3 days shipping for 5 days after the order was placed. It took 2 days for the order to be processed that was placed in the morning. I called customer service and was basically told it would be 3 days shipping but took 2 days to ship. To the customer that looks like 5-7 days shipping not 3-5.

I ordered a exercise bike, it arrived in a timely fashion but when I assembled it- the bike was defective. I called to tell customer service, customer service assured me they would issue a call tag and get it picked up.

This dragged on for 10 days! I would call every day, sometimes 3 or 4 times a day and every rep I would talk to would give me a different answer. I got so furious I called the corporate office, could't get anyone- I sent a nasty gram via fax and finally got a response. they claim my bike will be picked up- but at this point I do not trust them. I have contacted the BBB and filed a dispute with my credit card company, NEVER buy from them!! I am so emotionally drained from this whole mess. I have spent 23 hours trying to get this darned bike taken away and my account credited.

Avoid Dick's Sporting Goods

I was overcharged for shipping on an order where I used a gift card and charged the balance to a credit card. The item description screamed "Free Shipping & Free Return Shipping." However, when I added it to my shopping cart a shipping charge was included. I called customer service and they said don't worry about it because the shipping charge would be deducted when I complete the transaction. WRONG! I foolishly completed the order and had to call their inept customer service yet again. They did credit the amount back - TO THE GIFT CARD! They refuse to transfer the credit to my credit card from which the overcharge was originally paid. In short, they turn their screw-up to their own advantage by requiring me to make another purchase from them in order to liquidate the gift card balance.

From the looks of their ratings, this unmitigated audacity is very myopic and will cost them dearly in the long run. I recommend everyone avoid Dick's Sporting Goods.

They allowed my credit card to be used by a thief to purchase a on-line gift certificate they they emailed to the person and refused to cancel after I noticed the fraudulent charges to my account the following day!!! THEY WOULDN'T CANCEL THE CHARGES OR CANCEL THE CERTIFICATE FOR $200.00. Don't be surprised if someone at Dick's uses your credit card information at some point to buy personal stuff... Good Luck!

It seems that people only write reviews when something goes wrong, I made a purchase on 2/28/07, on my order confirmation it stated that my order would ship with in 2 business days, I selected free shipping and I would receive in 6 to 10 business days, 3/1/07 I received confirmation that the item was located in the warehouse, 3/2/07 I received an email that my items had shipped, 3/6/07 I received the items.

In 4 business days I received my purchase.
