PLEASE HELP!.. a friend of mine is running xp and he currently turned on his computer and it starts booting then runs scan disk but it does it so fast we cant stop it from running but it quits almost instantly and says there is an error but we cant read what the error is because it just flashes on the screen then restarts itself.. it continually does this... How do i fix it? i thought it could be the lovsan virus but when i fixed that on another comp last week it would only restart when the comp was on the net for a few minutes. i am at a loss with my friends computer. can anyone help? please email me with suggestions at tanya.ingram@sympatico.ca

Have you tried booting into safe mode to see if it will run from there. If it will, then you can run a virus scan from there. Hopefully your friend has an updated virus scanner. Donna

I have the same problem. It doesn't allow me to run in Safe Mode, it just goes and reboots again.
How did you go tanya?

rebooting like this indicates poor cooling, does the fan start spinning when your computer turns on?
