I just installed a new HD w/ W2K and now it cannot read the parallel port (LPT1). I also have a PCI device and an unknown device that need drivers according to Device Manager. I have a Dell Dimension 8100 and cannot find any help on the Dell website. How do I find the drivers or what the device is (i.e. manf and model #). Any help is greatly appreciated.

firstly,

The LPT1 port is usually installed as part of the installation of W2k, but if it did not find it, it might be because something else is using the resources for the LPT1 (printer port). remove the PCI device from the system (physically) and then do a check for new hardware, then try and add the LPT1 port yourself maually, if this works.. then add your PCI card (after looking to see what it is ?? USB card? modem? sound card etc !! - and slot it in. If the dell pc was bought new and this card came with it, you should still have its drivers. If you bought this card later and not with the pc.. did you get drivers ??? if you didnt, look at the card for any kinds of number sequences on the board, or the chips etc, then goto google and type the sequence into the search engine followed by 'drivers', see what comes up.
