Windows 98 Question

okay..i am running windows xp, but i want to get Windows 98 just because i like it better..i am not satisfied with xp. I have the W32_pinfi virus on xp, if i went out and bought Windows 98 and installed it, would it take the virus away yes or no? please reply!

it would, only if you completly formatted the HDD and fdisk'd the drive.

MY COMPUTER JUST WONT START UP..when ever i turn it on and it goes to the message "verifying dmi pool data" it stops..i cant go anywhere further unless i put in the windows 98 startup disk...PLEASE TEACH ME HOW TO USE IT!!..when i put it in and try to work it windows wont start back up..EMAIL ME PLEASE>>>AT FREESTYLBREAKR88@aol.com

while booting up hit the delete button to enter set up. Once in the bios click save settings.

My color values are all off. Everything is either gray or muted so it looks spongy. Display won't allow any setting but 2 or 16 colors; won't run 256-color. Also, my option boxes under "preferences",sign-on screen, and all others are blacked out.

Sounds like the video settings or the video card are messed up, do you have the video drivers? if you do, right click on the desktop, then properties, then settings, click on Advanced, then adapter and choose Change, then navigate to the drivers and install them.

W98SE hangs at start-up unless "secondary ide controller (dual fifo)" is disabled. any help? pls?!

also, my computer wont shutdown either. when i try to shutdown, it just restarts. even when "shutdown" is selected. has anyone encountered this and/or the symptoms described in the preceding post? any help would be very appreciated. thanks in advance.
