Anti Virus Software problems

well if anyone hasnt found out yet...i have W32.Pinfi virus and i havent been succesfull in eliminating this virus, i have gone to the registry and deleated "pinfi" so instead of doing that i installed norton anti virus trial version. It seems that NAV is able to find the virus but CANNONT eliminate the file. Should I just go out and buy NAV Pro? and another thing...whenever i re-boot my computer the anti-virus lags the startup. But when i uninstall the anti virus it re-boots fine. please help me.

Have you disabled system restore (if using ME or XP)? Have you updated the Nortons Anti virus? Here are the removal instructions from Nortons. Scroll to bottom of the link.

I would also go online and run a scan at Housecall or Panda and see if they can remove it for you. Donna

if you dot want to buy an anti virus scanner go to AVG antivirus and download the free one. Its good and it's updated regularily

Deleted Norton Antivirus 2003. Also after trying to resore it shows fatal error. Spy Sweeper Delete SHFOLDER.Dll Also deleted updates symantec. Can't make Dll run even when found on internet and hard drive. Says missing or damaged. systems restore can't restore Norton 2003.Tried everything even redownloading. Totally lost.Tried all of directions sent and nothing works. Error comes up even before I go online. Can't reinstall Norton Antivirus 2003!
