Hello! I've been having problems with my ip address. I installed cable modem in my computer, my ethernet card and cable modem are communicating properly, but when the computer guy tried to renew the ip address, it states that: an error occurred while renewing interface local area connection: The system cannot find the file specified. I did have that Unhandled Exception at address:100016b8 from PromulGate Universal pop up and I went online where they gave instructions on how to get rid of it. I believe it's spyware from Kazaa thru Delfin. I did this and restarted the computer, but I don't know if that is the cause of the problem with my IP address not being found. Can anyone please give me some info. Anything you might know will be greatly appreciated. Thanks:)

it maybe spyware, and it also maybe a corrupt version of TCPIP. Download SPYBOT and then get the latest updates. Remove all spyware from your machine and try renewing the ip address again. if this does not work remove the cable modem device including the TCPIP, and reboot. the reinstall the cable device again. then try releasing the ip address and renewing. Good luck
