Mom decided to get mischevious while I was out of town and install her new CD-Rom drive herself
Even after the reboot disk is ran I get this...
A fatal exception OD has occured at 05A5:00218. The current application will be terminated
Also in the start up screen there is no CD rom drive recognized (unless I have the boot disk in then its recognized???) Also the other error is an OE 0028:c0030490 LOL :) if anyone knows what these errors are or has any clue what I can do let me know. Also I get a display error dialog box sometimes but i think that was before I restored..

when she installed the new CD drive, did she replace the existing one ? or did she just add it to another bay ? - check to make sure that the cd drive has been reported correctly in the bios, also remove the drive and re-cable it back in, and check the jumpers. is the new drive a slave.. and if so, a slave to which other device? is it primary or secondary?

Ok I worked on this thing tonight. AND i tried it all. I went and talked to tech support @ e-machines they gave me directions but it was directions as if the old was was still involved and its not. SO I tried it all I think what the problem is is that the floppys IDE is shot (the one that runs from the board directly to the floppy) so im going to try and replace that one. As far as Everything and how its ran, yes the new cd is plugged as the primary. and its ran off of the primary slot on the motherboard. See the IDE runs from the motherboard, to the drive, to the cdrom drive. I have tried the jumper in the slave and the master. so i dont know, now im to the point to where it asks me for the floppy boot, but when i put it in it dosent work @ all thats why I think its the IDE from the board to the floppy. WELL GOODNIGHT IM TIERD. let me know if you hAVE ANY CLUE WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT. -CHRIS

Invalid System Disk?
Hi:
I need help trying to boot our son's computer.
When you turn it on it starts off..
OS Loading in progress... then a message comes up that says Invalid System Disk. Replace the disk and then press any key. We did not receive a disk for this?!??! If you press any key, the message just keeps appearing.
It will also say you can press F1 for set up and the set up screen comes up.
I am not sure what I do next, since I have only worked with Macs,so I am clueless. Please help. It would be great if you can email me directly at KGiusti639@aol.com
Thank you for any help.

Firstly check there is either no floppy disk at all in floppy drive, or no cd in cd drive.
If not when you press F1 this should bring up a BIOS screen, there should be an advanced settings option (or similar). What you are looking for is something similar to BOOT PRIORITY. This tells the pc, where to look for startup files (floppy drive, hard drive etc). Check that either HDD or HDD-0, are somewhere in this boot priority, as you want to run from the 1st hard drive. Save and reboot.
Try this first, if not go to

For help on the same problem.
Hope this helps..
