downloaded video then disappeared!?

I downloaded a video on kazaa, when it was complete, I checked but it was still in .DAT form. So I restarted kazaa, but then the file was completely gone. I even did a search for the pc but couldnt find anything?!
can someone tell me what the problem is? and how to retrieve or atleast erase it.
