my roomie was in an msn chat room when it notified him it was experiencing tech difficulty. unfamiliar w/ the situation, he consulted room regulars who told him to reboot. when he did, he got a black window (command prompt?). it had a cursor but wouldnt accept an entry. i closed it & got a blank blue screen. i CTRL+ALT+DEL'd for the task mgr & found ntvdm.exe pulling 99 from cpu.
i managed to restore function by:
1) boot on win2k cd, 2) end ntvdm.exe task, 3) new task C:\doc's & sett...\...\desktop
(will boot w/o win2k cd but WONT new task)
but i have to do this every time i reboot
UGH! what'd we do to "precious" THIS time?
(i know, i know... "git away from that wheelbarrow, woman! you know you don't know nuthin' 'bout machinery!" lol)
