Problem with DLL32.dll when installing VPN
Madhu

Hi All,

I recently formatted my laptop(a very old one) and installed win98. I am installing all the programs again. When I try to install VPN client, it first gave me an error "can not load c:/windows:/system/DLL32.dll".

Then when I looked for that file in that directory, it was not there, and it was there in c:/windows. So I copied the file manually into the system directory(may be a bad idea..I dont know). Again tried installing VPN, failed with the same error. Some friends suggested I try regsvr32 \i dll32.dll inthe system dirn. It came up with another error "initialization failed".

please dont give me the solution as update to XP..I had this VPN install working fine before I formatted the laptop.

Please give me some ideas on how to solve this problem. Thanks for every one's time.

Regards
Madhu

I have the same problem. Were you able to solve it?

If you have your Win98 install disk, try putting it in before you add the vpn adapter. Often it will pull the driver off the disk on its own & then put in the proper registry values on restart. I'll double check mine at home to see if I can tell you any more. Hope it helps!

Have the same problem as described above. Have found thet the attributes for the dll32.dll file are removed after any attempt to load the file. I have tried to replace the missing attributes but they go away as soon as I attempt to load the file. The mminst.dll file that someone said needed to be removed does not exist on my machine. CURSES! :-)

I was having the same problem and found out that if you're connected to AOL, you'll get this message about DLL32.DLL. So turn off AOL, reboot and reinstall your VPN client. Afterwards when you restart AOL it will install an adaptor and reboot. You should be ready to go after that. It worked for me, good luck!
