do you guys know what exactly khooker.exe does. i had the impression that i clicked a link and something poped-up saying that i downloaded some crap. now i looked all over the computer and khooker resembles the thing i saw there (i closed it quickly).

KHooker khooker.exe SiS Keyboard Daemon. System Tray utility which gets installed by the drivers of the latter day SiS VGA cards. Can cause errors at startup and isn't required.

I don't remember to have any vga sis driver in my new pc, but there is that khooker running. Could not be a trojan or similar thing using that old program name for hiding?

Yes, that is what it is. If you are having problems with it, you can go to start/run and type in msconfig and then click on the startup tab. Locate KHooker in the list of startup apps. If it has a checkmark next to it, uncheck it (it does not need to be checked) and apply and reboot your machine. Donna

i cant get rid of Khooker. I did what Donna said, but when i type in misconfig after i clicked Run, it says it cannot find it... I need an easier way (seeing that im not good at computers! =P) to remove this program.. pls help

thanks Donna! I was aware that we can turn off some programs that run at startup but wasnt sure how.. ur message was of great help.. I dont remember any such process running on my comp a few days ago.. According to me it is a useless program.. May be some kind of trozan script..But not sure.. it is wise to stop it from running at startup..

What version Windows? Are you going to start run and typing msconfig into the box and then pressing the enter key? It should bring up another box and then you click on startup. Donna

Well , thanks to all , I had khooker in my machine. and also in the same atack i recieve a file called ptsnoop...
I supose that PTSNOOP its the trojan , and khooker the keylogger..
pretty useful stuff here..

PTSNOOP could be either the type of modem that you have or a trojan. Donna

Ray to remove khooker from windows 2000 you have to do this:
1. go to the option start -> Run
2. type regedit then press ok
3. go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and find at the right pane the register of the khooker and
delete it, it seems like C:\WINNT\System32\khooker.exe
4. Finally you have to delete the khooker file from C:\WINNT\system\khooker.exe

SiS is the manuafacturer of your motherboard or some of the components on it. The KHooker is a keyboard software that can map keys on teh keyboard with special functions. It is not needed and most people won't use it.
ZeroZen was wrong to assume that it is somethign bad. IT ISN'T. removing it may free up some resources on your computer. Pc (PT) Snoop is a driver for a PcTel modem that is in your PC. Crappy modem, ptsnoop hogs many resources on the computer. If you don't use your modem (for instance if you have DSL or a cable modem) then remove the modem and uninstall the drivers.

Thank you guys, this is the best Help Forum i have been into.
The Khooker.exe gave me a lot of problems on WinXP home Edition.
1- while browsing IE ver 6 it closes the link
and shuts down my system.
2- the khooker keeps on poping up on my runing software (taskmanager).
3- please how can I remove it.

Hi,
I've been having trouble with my pc as well, and I think it's the fault of that Khooker thing, and/or the sistray.
1: My computer just crashes sometimes, giving me an error about sofware or hardware that has been installed properly.
I've disabled both programs in the msconfig, but still the same probs.
2: Sometimes other programs just shut down with the ussual error message
3: Trouble with playing audio (mp3 and such on the media player,...)
Can I just delete the both of them? And how?
I'm using Windows XP Pro.

I had some trouble with khooker, but now it's removed; another subject... Some mother fu...r have installed 2 sites named www.clearsearch.com and www.globe-finder.com, this happened after some pop ups from a porn site... :-( I've tried a lot of things, I've cleared the temp internet files using the destroy function on POWERDESK, but still no luck, what can I do? My IExplorer is extremmely slow and almost useless (I'm using netscape), but worst of all, this is changing constantly my start up page... Any help?? Tks a lot to all of you guys.

If you have a file called sistray.exe (spelled this way or as sistrai.exe) on your PC then it is possble that you may have a Trojan called Trojan.Prova - go to Symantec.com for a write-up on how to remove this bug.

Using F-Prot for Windows with signature file dated 15 October, it marks khooker.exe as security risk or backdoor program and the real time protector blocks it. Does this blocking cause malfunctioning?

Can someone tell me what RNAPP is for?
I get Rnapp appear on the scream saying an illegal action has taken place when i'm on the net. It closes down yahoo messenger and freezez everything. I know i can do cont/alt/delete but I just wondered why it appears in the first place.Your help will be much appreciated

Globe finder sets itself as your homepage due to a trojan virus called Trojan.Win32.StartPage Check out the symptoms at www.viruslist.com. The infected files were detected and removed after I updated my virus def list. I use avg by grisoft. www.grissoft.com they have a free version. I tested with my browser, and I guarantee this works. Globe-finder is a scam homepage, what do you expect from a homepage that sells viagra ???

Anyone know how to get rid of clearsearch. I removed it from the registry. However it is a folder in "program files". It was set to read only, I changed that under properties, it still won't let me delete it.

pk-windows 2000 does not come with msconfig installed. you have to install in separately. try this link if you have windows 2000 and want to run msconfig

I had the same problem with my PC rebooting without reason and it was caused by the defective memory card (RAM). I removed it and everything has been perfect since then. You can check your RAM using free test program here

error message "kernell32.dll and win32"
I have been deleted my hardrives and booted and restarted many times. But I still having problems when running an exe files. It somehow doesn't recognize it or something. I used norton antirvirus to delete the infected files but still getting the same problems. The errors were "Linked to missing export Kernel32.DLL" and some sort of crazy words or signs, and "a device attached to the system is not functioning". Some exe files I run has errors that said "error this is not a win32 file". Please tell me how can I fix this problem.

Home page getting redirected
I was having problems with the homepage being redirected to luckysearch and globefinder; tried resetting the values in the registry but it kept happening. It turns out there is a program called CWSweeper.exe (do a search on Google) which can stop this pesky problem. Once it has fixed up your machine, go to windows updates online and get your machine up to date so that it doesn't happen again

ptsnoop and mdm are virus files try symantec.com for assistance on these files. Symantec has a repair and removal program for files like these. khooker from what i have seen is a program that runse relating to SiS vga drivers, but is in fact just a trojan horse. follow any of the suggestions given here to actually get rid of it. systray is what you see in the bottom right hand corner of your screen, while ccapp and rnaapp are just windows system programs. Globe finder is a trojan also. all of the problems are rectifiable you just need to find the right software... i hope i been some help, if you need a little more assistance, email me sir_afrodite@hotmail.com cheers.

I have W2k prof running with a pretty good base computer behind it but i do have a modem cable which i have made the mistake of leaving pretty much on line all the time - i am sure i have a virus since i keep rebooting and java sometimes makes me freeze but i have the symantec virus checker (which i just signed up for and it doesnt find a virus) - so what do i do now - sign up with another company or what

yup khooker caused me some probps with hotmail, a few times i wud open new e-mails and it wud restart my xp based pc and then i sent an error report and it said it was caused by a driver problem and now it makes sence, and i have told sis and they said they already new and that they are onto fixing it

running on the desktop after booting up
Not being a PC expert I just want to know what needs to run after booting up. I press ctl+alt+del and have 15 programs running. how do I know which are needed and which are not? and how to remove the unwanted ones?. Some are Qttask,stimon,khooker,cmmpu and ptsnoop.
