System Freezes

I have a Solo 1200, 800 Celeron, 312 RAM. I am having real problems with system freezes. No scan software will run, without freezing. I often get the blue screen on startup and freezes. It happens randomly, but the CD light always comes on before freezing. At one point, my firewall detected a program called iconnect.exe on D, which is my CDROM. The CD light always comes on and stays on when the system freezes.
Any help will def be appreciated.

UPDATE: I am running Scan Disk from PCDoctor and it found an error in some Debug file. I told it to delete the file, then the system immeditely froze. Harrdrive is running, CD light is on..
