The eMachines I just bought was my first home computer came with XP, and it gives me the creeps. Granted, I was really curious and far too brave, and I'm sure I have caused myself some of the confusion I encountered, but I wasn't content to take what I have seen at face value. I have learned that whatever you screw up is not beyond the reach of Microsoft's firm grasp on your computer, but I wish I'd never invited them to help through remote assistance. They appear to have more control of how I use my machine and how I connect to the internet than I do, and the everlasting gobstopping software reconfigures my settings and now controls my modem with a proxy that wont go away. They could at least provide me with simple clear instruction as to how they intend to use my software after I buy it. Anything you do can be fixed. I have no doubt that MS is closer at hand than you think, just waiting for you to sell your soul for the help you need that they have ensured can only be provided by them or with their consent and only on their terms. Good luck. I ask everybody but MS when I want to know what is going on.
