I upgraded my comp. with a new m/b (gigabyte ga-7vaxp)and
a 2400+ AMD CPU.
64MB geForce-4 Mx440-se Video Card.
256 DDR PC2700 333MHz Ram.
Set the clock ratio Switch on off to auto
and switch 1 on off to auto.
Setup Bios as per installation guide, booted all up,installed
Win98SE and all needed drivers and went great for about
10 days. Started it up one morning came up with an error
that it was going to startup again and told me to start in
safe mode, tried to fix it in safe mode and booted with a
different error and more error messages after that.
So I fomated the Hard Drv. and tried to install win98SE
again and stops installing with a message generic
installer error su99402, tried again and came with
a Sunwin message.
Please help, I,m lost.

Guy.

I think your not loading the proper drivers for you IDE interface for your MB. Should be an IDE driver disk - CD or you can download from manufacturers site here:

I know the problem its a new undetected by virus companies virus first it corrupts registry then when you format and try to reinstall it copies itself to the mbr and bootblocks now M$ articles wont even help warning this virus replicates itself even on diskdrives best thing to do in my opinion is fdisk the HD and then the mbr after that restart comp and format try the install now...
I am changing operating system Windows has too many viruses and i just happend to disslike them
