copier problem.

I can't get my printer to copy,scan or print. It's a lexmark x-75. I have windows 98 and keep getting an error message about an illegal act and to contact my vendor! Any advice.

Yes, contact your vendor!
Or, failing that contact Lexmark.
Those are the places to start.
The people that manufacture and sell a product tend to see a wide variety of errors because of their breadth of experience. Give them a go first.
