Errors in: newdotnet.dll, NEWDOTNET3_23.DLL

ALL problems with newdotnet.dll (or something similar) are most likely caused by a program you recently downloaded and installed. If you downloaded Kazaa then it probably is the source of the newdotnet-spyware program. I already gave answers to remove the spyware from your computer with ad-aware. If you aren't able to remove the spyware, or if the problem (newdotnet.dll caused problems-messages) still persists, then post back in this thread.

So for ALL newdotnet-problems
Step 1.
Look at the link http://www.simplythebest.net/info/ spyware.html

Step 2.
Remove the spyware (instructions at the link and above)

Step 3.
Test your system: if the problem is still there remove Kazaa is you have this filesharing-program installed

Step4.
Test your system: if all the above doesnt help, post back in a NEW thread with an explanation of your problem and a brief summary of ALL the steps.

Good luck everybody!! (and pls dont install Kazaa,: it only gives trouble. Download Morpheus instead; same server (!!!) so the same files are there, and Morpheus doesnt have spyware).

Hey all -
If anybody is not having any luck with the advice here, I would like to offer the solution which worked for me. I couldn't get the program to remove from the add/remove program, so I followed the directions on the following link:

They are fairly straight forward, but it always helps to have someone on the phone. Just another suggestion for anyone who is having trouble. Boo for Kazaa. I am all about Aimster right now.

Kazaa contains spyware, that is: it sends information about your behaviour at the web to the server and sells the information they have obtained.
You can run Ad-Aware to remove the spyware from your computer at http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10106-100-7302674.html?tag=st.dl.10001-103-1.lst-7-1.7302674

So I guess you can be right. These rumours seem to spin around since 18th of december 2001, but I havent seen any evidence yet. All I can find is some well known websites recommending Morpheus over Kazaa for the reason it doesnt contain spyware.
Could you please post a link to any site that has hard evidence Morpheus contains spyware?

I had the NewDot prob and someone emailed me instructions on how to get rid of it. Its long and a bit involved but IT WORKED. Simply deleting it in the add/remove file didn't work for me. Drop me a line and I'll gladly forward it on. You'll need a printer, its about 4 pages long. If a cyber blonde like I could do it, you can to.

help. I downloaded Kazaa and a few days later, i was cleaning out my harddrive and came across "newdotnet3_70.dll' i didnt think that it did anything, so i deleted it, then after that the internet stopped working. i always get the 'this page can not be displayed' messege What should i do?

thank u very much Zach. Hope to you, I know now what my prob with my internet came for... u know what? I ve got EXACTLY the same prob. Right now, i can make the internet work by running under windows 98 (both 98 and 2k are installed on my computer, and I installed --in damn kazaa and a few days later removed newdotnet under Win 2k). the prob is I dont understand how to make my internet connection work again under 2k... maybe I'll try to reinstall --in Kazaa so newdot is also reinstalled...

Rundll32.exe shows Page fault , whenever the computer is started. The page fault error is caused in NewDOTNET33_23DLL. i DO NOT HAVE ANY SPY WARE PROGRAMME. nUMBER OF SCREEN SAVERS INCLUDING WEBSHOTS LOADED.

I read the other messages in this web page and in the newdotnet page. Downloaded regcleaner from www.techtv.com/screensavers/supergeek/story/0,24330,3338390,00, and installed RegCleaner, and the Page fault has disappeared. Thanks very much to everybody from INDIA. By the way do the Microsoft people read these pages? Or we have to wait for eons to get the fix ? Again many thanks.

if you dont like the popus and spyware use a reverse engineered version called Kazaa Lite.

My son downloaded newdot from morpheus. We have an Windows XP and we lost access to the internet. I did run the uninstall on newdot. We still can't access the internet. I've called my service provider and he is able to see my pc. Any suggestion on how to recover.

Newdotnet cost me a hard drive.I downloaded adaware,did the req'd cleaning of all third party spyware and they still returned everytime I rebooted.I couldn't connect to the internet and my ISP said they couldn't help any longer ,so I bought a new hard drive and won't use Kazaa any more.Looks like newdotnet has accomplished what the music industry was unable.Stopped me from using file sharing.I have heard that Norton Internet Security will prevent the problem of unwanted software being downloaded without the user's knowledge and intend to use it from now on.

i work for a residential networking part of a college, and we've had several students have this problem, (they have kazaa and spyware and once they uninstall kazaa their connection is gone even after they get rid of one or two spyware programs) One suggestion we've gotten is to uninstall Kazaa, run Spybot (yet another ad/spyware removal tool), and THEN run adaware. This should get rid of the spyware such that your connection should start functioning again. If anyone has any other ideas besides this please post them we're having many problems with Kazaa.

I've had the 'newdotnew' on my computer. I have uninstalled and cleaned the registry of all references to this "newdotnet'. Now I can connect to the internet but cannot access either Explorer or netscape. How can I fix this problem with dial up networking?

I was able to restore my system i.e. internet connection by using instructions on this site:

It appears that using SpyBot/AdAware to remove NewDotNet messes up the Winsock stack.

Hi everybody,

I've had the same problem : No Internet connection eand no outlook connection
The file "NewDotNet" disappeared (or being deleted, I don't know!)and actually i've an error message saying that its need the NewDotNet.dll.

i downloaded a astrology software from the Internet and it caused a the newdotnet.dll error mentioned above the windows shows the message as "explorer has caused an error in NEWDOTNET4_50.DLL; try restarting your computer"

I erased, NEWDOTNET
First i erased the directory,. It began to appear that it was not found c:\Program\NEWDOTNET\newdotnet5_48.dll second I erased all references of it in the registry and finally I so it installed so i uninstalled from the Software in the Control Pannel.

It seems that my DSl connection , everything goes in a good way, i enter in internet, but the browser cannot read a web page, every time it says that it cannot find the Server.

Somebody can help me? My email is moncayotheurer@hotmail.com. Somebody told me that i should reformat the Dard Disk?. Is this a good idea?

I solved the problem!!!, erasing windows specially where is the system. Then i Installed again and now the connection to ineternet functions good.

Funny how people download/buy all these nice big spy and ad removers and it just doesn't work.

In future TURN OFF ACTIVEX and stop surfing inappropriate websites. Good advice huh?

If you need help restoring your internet after adaware erases the newdotnet.dll then simply download winsockFix.zip and run the exe inside.

I had problems too. Seemed to have fixed them by running spybot and then running spywareblaster.exe. Once installed it stops any spyware or adware from being downloaded. As long as you update regularly its good. Some sites dont load though, or behave strangely,usually the ones infested with the bad stuff. Have to add that it is usually dubious porn sites, so maybe there's a lesson there. Kazaa Lite works ok for me, tho I wouldn't risk it without Norton running.

one of my friends computers with windows ME seems to have this problem where the internet stopped working after running adaware, and she had kazaa on her computer..i am hesitant to run that fix as it could cause those crashes described, and that walkthrough appears to be for dial-up networking only??? we are on a local lan here, would i need to do something differently???

i've had the same problem on both of my computers...like lan said winsockfix should fix all of your problems after your adaware software has deleted it since lan's link didn't owkr heres a linki that does work.
