Try running the system file checker utility. In Win 98, you go to Start, Run, type in 'sfc' and then click OK. Do not use the quotes. See if this procedure works in Win 95. When the system finds corrupted files, you will be prompted to insert the Win95 Install CD, from which the new files will be copied. They might also be at C:/Windows/Options/Cabs. You will have to type in the path during the file restore process.

Also could be that Java requires Win98 to operate properly, and you may have to upgrade. I don't really know for sure. If you have a Compaq computer, go to the Compaq.com home page (or HP.com), look for tech support and send an email describing your problem. They usually respond within 24 hours, and will probably give you instructions on how to delete a corrupted system file and how to extract a new file (basically what the system file checker (sfc command) does that I initially described.

because of the monopoly law suit IE doesnt include sun microsystems java. Although many things are written for microsoft's java'script' still others require the original sun microsystem's java available at sun's website. Its a free download. This is most likely your problem
