Try these approaches: 1) "When the cocreateinstance failure occurs after loading yahoo instant messenger, the fix is to load or upgrade Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 or 5. The software is looking for a file from that. You don't even have to run MS Internet Explorer - Just Upgrade It. You can download it from Microsoft."
2) "For those having problems with Yahoo CoCreatinstance for the My Yahoo dll try this:
download from the following URL
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/Softlib/MSLFILES/msvbvm50.exe
- A pop-up dialog box will ask to save the file.
- Make sure that the "save in" area reads "Desktop".
- Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the window.
- When the download is finished, close all open programs.
- Find the file icon on your desktop and double-click it to begin the installation
- For each new window of the installation, just click on the "Next" button until you get to the end, which says "Installation Completed", and then click on the "Finish" button.
Once the installation is finished, reboot the computer. Yahoo! Messenger should work properly now. If not, please download Messenger again and reinstall it. There is no need to uninstall first. To download and install again, please go to http://messenger.yahoo.com/ and click on the link that says "Windows" under Quick Download.
Be sure to save the file to disk, AND save it to the desktop so that it will be easy to find. To save the file to the desktop

1. Click "Yes" when prompted to save the file to disk. A window will appear asking where to save the file.
2. Click the little yellow folder with the up-pointing arrow at the top of this window until it reads 'Desktop' in the white field.
3. Click the Save button.

When the download is complete, exit your browser and all other programs. Locate the downloaded file on your desktop (in our case, ymsgr.exe) and double-click it. This will launch the installation process and allow you to use the Messenger.

During the Installation process, you will be asked to enter your Yahoo! ID and password. Just enter the same ID and password that you use for other parts of Yahoo, or if you do not have a Yahoo ID, click the button that says "get a yahoo ID".

My PC either hangs or reboot itself when I first switch on. After several reboots, then the matter is resolved and the PC works fine after that.

Why is this happening every time I switched on the PC? I have scanned using Norton Anti-virus latest updates but nothing found.

My PC is AMD 800 Mhz CPU/10 Gb harddisk/512 Mb RAM and OS is WIN98SE. Would appreciate if anybody out there can assist me or if you have faced similar situations like this. Thanks and regards, geng59

Go to start/run and type in msconfig and press the enter key. Then click on startup tab. Uncheck everything from the startup menu (write down everything you uncheck)except explorer and systray. Once done you will need to reboot the computer. Once it is completely booted up, shut the computer down by going to start/shutdown. Wait 5 or 10 minutes and boot the computer back up again. If everything is ok, then you know something in your startup is causing the problems. Start by rechecking them one by one, rebooting, and shut down. When you finally have the problem back, you will know exactly which program is causing your problem. Donna

Discreet, maybe your boss intented for instant messaging to be unaccessible. My opinion, wait 'till you're home, on your own time. If you screw something up at work, and your boss finds out you're trying to install instant messaging, you could be in trouble... just a thought!

"CoCreateInstance for the MyYahoo DLL .."

There are two reasons why you may receive this error message:

Certain system files on your computer may be old and need to be updated. The only way to update these system files is to install Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 or above on your computer. It would solve many problems now and in the future to upgrade NOW to IE6!!

If you use Netscape as your browser, you don't have to switch to Internet Explorer or even run Explorer once. In order to update your system files, you just have to install Internet Explorer.
You can download the latest version of Internet Explorer here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.htm

You may have Yahoo! Messenger installed in more than one place on your computer. To correct this problem, uninstall and then reinstall Messenger. Before reinstalling empty temp files/history/cookies/recycle bin/do a disc clean/ should use a registry cleaner if you have one downloaded.. hopefully if you do a search on your pc for yahoo messenger it will be completely gone!! ...at that point go redownload it ONCE! and make sure you have the current most updated version.
