computer keeps restarting and wont load windows

ok so last night when i got home i turned on my other computer, which has windows xp, i got the screen that gives the option of safe mode and normal mode and whatnot, first off i dont know why that came up because i had shut down the computer the night before like i always do, so anyways i selected normal and the windows loading screen comes up then it just restarts again. i tried starting it in safe mode and it ends up freezing before it even gets to the windows loading screen. im pretty clueless right now as to what i should do. i havent made any software or hardware changes recently so im confused as to what has happend. any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks a lot.

seems like you may have a power supply problem make sure your cord is firmly inserted at both ends maybe change cords. You may also have a bad fan, turn off comp. remove cover and turn it on observe the fans if they stop/stop and go or are not turning at all check for a stray wire impeding them or replace them, while cover is off clean with compressed air.
