Two problems that may be related. OH please help

Hi There,
I'm having a couple of problems and i really hope someone can help. I'm using windows 98 but i'm not sure what other information would be helpfull
1) Everytime i start up the computer it tells me that there was a registry problem and to restart. I can't think of anything i've installed for at least a month now. I know i can disingage the registry check at startup but i'm hoping there's a way a can actually fix it rather than get around it.
2) For some reason as i play a game it starts out alright but then begins to slow down until it is barely working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tks

chris please post what is loading when your computer starts up. Press start/run/type msconfig and hit enter. Select 'start tab' list whatever has a checkmark. Also hit start/programs and list what shortcuts are in the start up list

you have an ENORMOUS amount of resourses used up rite off the bat at start up.Especially office.Power profile is just for laptops,taskmoniter well i perform them as a routine,ICSDCLT?? Kazaa!! If i knew you were a kazaa user i woulda sed serves you rite. This is a major part of your problem u described and problems you may not be aware of, if you are unwilling to get rid of this spyware and the programs it installed on its own (gator d/lware etc) then at least take it out of your start up, you dont need schedualing agent just remember to cleanup,scan disc and defrag once a month.SSDPSRC i dont know what this is.
PowerReg Scheduler V3 keeps track of printer ink??? u need this??
If you right click ' my computer'and choose performance I'll bet your resourses are 70% or less. Getting rid of unnessesary processes at start up you can aproach 90% Mine is 92%

And please get rid of kazaa download spybot search and destroy at cnet download.com or webattack.com to get rid of spyware as it has processes running that you'll never know.
clear your shortcuts in startup folder.
Perhaps buy more ram.

Thanks Ed. I appreciate you helping me out despite your extreme dislike of Kazaa. My performance is up to 90%. The game still slows down to a crawl but i would guess it's kazaa like you said. Learnt a lot and thanks again.

you could always use Kazaa lite. Great program and without the spyware.

If you are still having the registry problem, reboot your computer, as it is booting back up tap the f8 key continually. You will get a list of options. Choose command prompt only, highlight and click enter key. At the small blinking prompt, type scanreg/fix and it will fix your registry. Donna
