i just installed a new home network for a friend with 2 windows 98 o/s using 2 nic cards from a cable modem

the problem i am having is that the second computer will not download exe files.
i have tryed using 3 different browsers & 2 ftp clients, i can download any other file type but not exe's ?
i keep getting "the server has reset its connection" errors no matter where i DL a exe from.

the only thing i have found that may be the problem is in the registry under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile
& the settings are correct, I am stumped !!

if any one has any idea of what may cause this or a link to somewhere that may help i would be very thankfull !!

its been 4 days now that i have been searching to no avail?
