Many product CDs come bootable, such as Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Norton Antivirus 2003. If your computer is set to check the CD drive first for a bootable disk, then all you have to do is put the CD in the drive and turn on your computer. You will then see a message something like, "Press any key to boot from CD..." After a few seconds if you don't press any key, it will go on to check other sources for a bootable disk.
If you want to create your own bootable CD, you can find a very detailed site on bootable CDs here: http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/
