I have been getting a constant error message saying "C:\Program Files\Squire\136170\p.dat. everytime I start up my Internet Explorer. Any ideas on what the cause of this is and how I can remedy the problem? I don't know if this has any relation to the previous question I sent in earlier about my screensaver not responding.

barry try restarting in safe mode and open up screen saver dialog box thru there. change the screen saver as your current one may be currupted.
then run 'find and type in squire and see what this program/item squire dat is and what it is associated with. This is a new one on me but sounds like a trojan/virus scumware/spyware issue.

i have been getting the message "C:\Program Files\squire\**\p.dat has generated errors. the number of the file that has generated the problem keeps changing and the messsage appears everytime i swtich on my pc and try the programs ,,,eg the internet, my shared folder, my documents ect.

I had a friend that had this problem. It was a search engine toolbar. There is an uninstall program at http://www.sqwire.com/toobar/uninstall.html or you can reach it via the link from the FAQ page http://www.sqwire.com/faq.html#13. I am not sure if this fixed his problem yet.

for those who have been a victim of the program. if you go to the page:
http://www.sqwire.com/toolbar/uninstall.html
there is an automatic uninstaller. and it does work.
