Im recieving an error message that say's , explorer has caused an error in wmpdxm.dll everytime I try to get in My Computer or in My Documents. I have had Kazza installed before and Im just wondering if Gator is running in the back ground or if gator is the suspect or not. Any help to fix this error and get me back on track again would be great.

Have the same problem but have never had Gator or Kazza on this PC. I found if I go to Start, Settings and instead of clicking "open" hit "explore" I can get to the Control Panel -- still trying to correct the problem by repairing explorer --let you know if succuss

i found that if you get a NEW WMPDXM.DLL from the web and copied it over the old one, ofcourse keeping the old one somewhere handy, it seems to fix the Internet Explorer problem!
Hope this Helps!

this WMPDXM.DLL doesn't seem to have anything to do with microsoft products my first thought is spyware or some kind of malware. Clean your systems with spybot search and destroy or find this dll and delete it.

Den is right. That file is used by Windows Media Player 9, not some kind of SpyWare or the like.

i would just like to say some of the people on this site especically Rob and beth have saved my life because my mum would have gone mental if i had not fixed this thanks! here is how to solve the problem, download wmpdxm.dll from www.dynamiclink.nl/dll.htm then unzip it (this may take a few times) then goto run on the start menu, select browse, windows, system then change the box to all files instead of programs and you should find wmpdxm.dll there, now go back to your unzip, copy it and paste it into the system directory replacing the old file and the problem is solved!!

we could uninstall IE 6 and re-run the IE 5 setup. also, did made sure, that we did overwrite the old copy of the WMPDXM.dll file.

I was having this same problem for a long time. I came to this site, and realized that the problem started happening after I installed Windows Media Player 9. I did what one person recommended, going to the website, and downloading/unzipping the new file, but that didn't work at all. While looking around the internet, I found this other site,

www.webzila.com/dll

and they have the same file, wmpdxm.dll When I downloaded this one, I then went under Start, then Run, the browsed to the Windows folder, then opened the System folder, and pasted the new file that I just downloaded in the folder, replacing the old one, and now everything works. So I guess maybe the file they had on the other site just doesn't work for everyone.

Hey guys I was having the same problem, but I found a fix that doesn't make you download anything and it's really easy... All you have to do is follow this:
Microsoft really messed up a lot of things with version 9 of the Windows Media Player. It can be fixed by reverting back to a previous version of the embedded dll. This can be done with the following steps:
1) Select Start > Run on your system
2) Type "regsvr32.exe msdxm.ocx" and hit Enter
3) You should see a message saying that "DLLRegisterServer in msdxm.ocx succeeded".

If you ever for some reason want to cancle this change and go back to using the new crappy error-ish dll file, do this:
follow these steps to reverse the process:
1) Select Start > Run on your system
2) Type "regsvr32.exe wmpdxm.dll" and hit Enter
3) You should see a message saying that "DLLRegisterServer in wmpdxm.dll succeeded".

I want to thank all of you for posting differant suggestions. I reloaded my Windows ME upgrade today and came up with the same error message. I went to www.webzila.com/dll and downloaded a copy of wmpdxm.dll and replaced the old one in the SYSTEM folder. So far everything works perfect. It is a dll for Windows Media Player. The dll file I used wasn't even the same size or quite the same version but so far so good.

Good luck to all of you,

Erik

I had the same problem as all of you. I fixed it by:
1. Typing, at the RUN command : "regsvr32.exe msdxm.ocx" Then click OK.
2. Type, again at the RUN command: "regsvr32.exe wmpdxm.dll" Then click OK

That fixed it for me anyways. Hope it does for all of you.

No prob, hey lucky, all that spyware (Gator and Gain) can cause a bunch of problems and errors, you should download Spy Bot - Search and Destroy at http://security.safer-networking.org to get rid of it all. Spybot is a BAD ASS FREE program everyone should run at least once
