Outlook Express is now S--L--O--W to Open

For almost two years, my Outlook express just popped right up when I clicked on it. Now it takes over one minute to pop up.
I've reinstalled Internet Explorer 5.5 but that didn't work, and I've done a scandisc which told me that all files were ok. Everything else works great.
Does anyone know what this might be and how I might fix it? I'd really rather not do a system "recovery" from the recovery disc if at all possible.

is it just Outlook express or IE also. Have you been experimenting with eudora or netcape?
Scaned for virus or trojan, Has your ISP changed their pop/smtp settings? check yours, make sure outlook express is default. Any new software running next to the clock. Sounds like it might be virus scanner problem also perhaps reinstall virus scanner/firewall.
There's some things to check out.
By the way if you're anotherone like so many other's that have Kazaa on your system then outlook is probably in use.
