Hello I am running Windows 98 and I have been having major problems with it. I did a total new reformat of my system yesterday thinking it would solve the problem and it did not. When I open a web page either using IE or netscape the text is all blocks with a few letters able to read and then when I try to click on anything I will freeze up and get either rundll, run32dll, ddhelp errors and shut down. Then even if I restart the computer it does not work. Any suggestions?

If your only problem is IE and netscape I would try reinstalling them. What else is happening?
Run system file checker located start/prog/system tools/system info under tools
What if any are the exact error messages?

Thanks for the tip I am heading there to check that out. The error messages happen even in outlook. They very. Like now I am getting the boxes on here as I type. They are errors like Ddhelp has caused a invalid page fault in the Kernel.dll or unknown has cauded a invalid page fault in unknown. And also a lokt of rundll and rundll32 errors. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my browsers and even reformated my whole system and still get the same problems.

if file checker doesn't find any currupt files right click 'my computer' icon and click devise manager. Look and see if there are any yellow question marks beside any of the things listed. If so post back and let me know. If not then expand the line that sez video and look for video adapter. highlight it and click properties. If you have the instalation discs then update driver and install them. I think either your video adapter drivers are currupted or Directx which can be gotten from microsoft site.

I do have a yellow question mark next to something that says "unsupported devise" when I click properties it says it is working properly and that the drivers are installed. I have no clue what it is. I also looked at all the things that said video and updated drivers and they all say I am using the most current driver. I am still getting the blocks when I get on explorer and sometimes when I restart I can use it for a bit before it kicks me off again here is the error I get lately with the blocks.

To resolve any DDHELP Errors just reinstall your video drivers (latest version if possible) and also go to Microsoft.com and download the latest DirectX files. That will solve your problem.

Hi Gina
Did you reformat your pc with devices such as printers, scanners, etc, connected? If yes disconnect and try running it again. You should only have your keyboard, mouse, monitor & power cord connected to run a successful reformat & recovery. I hope this helps
