I know there is software to block those annoying pop up ads and web sites. But I don't want to just load anything on my pc. I also know from the registry which are the most offending sites and their IP addresses.
What I would like to do is use whatever security windows XP has to filter out (deny) the sites that I have on my particular list
Thanks

edit your hosts file or download one from k-lite.tk

Thanks jon.
for your link to k-lite.tk - the supertrick menu item had a great write up on how to edit the hosts file (and its exact location).
A book on windows xp mentioned being able to use ip security to create a file of sites to deny -but it wasn't clear how to do it.
The microsft site had a little article about
host name resolution using registry entries but the path
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Tcpip\Hosts\Host Name
(where Host Name is the name of your host) doesn't seem to exist on my pc.
