Copy from C:\ hard drive to E:\ or F:\ CD-ROMs

I can copy from C to D and D to C but not from C or D to E or F. I get access denied when I try to copy to a CD-ROM drive (E & F). When I click on details I'm told to check to see if the disk is full (it isn't, by far) and to see if the disk is write-protected. Why can't I get past this access denied thing? How is a CD-ROM write-protected?

I have Easy Disk Creator 5, Roxio Direct CD.

with easy cd first you need to run its program called adaptec direct cd then insert the cd into the cd writer wait for the message that it is ready right click the file you want to copy and choose 'send to E:/xx' or to F:/xx.
hope this helps.
cd roms are not right protected the computer needs to use cd burning software to 'copy' info to cd's that's all the message meant. Post back if you have problems.
I wonder why my message shows up so many times before.

I'm missing something. Starting up direct cd, inserting a cd, waiting for ready is okay, but there is no file shown to right click on. I have to get out of direct cd and go to Explorer and open up c:\ to get a file to send to e:\ . I still get "access denied."

after ready message appears press ok
then go to explorer or my documents where the file you want to copy is. right click the file you want to copy and choose send to E or F
If you still get access denied then right click on the directcd's icon on toolbar and choose format and then try again. If it still doesn't work then try to burn the cd thru adaptec cd creater where you choose in the top pane what you want to burn and add using the toolbar.
If this doesn't work reinstall easy cd software.
If this still dosn't work then there is something wrong with the cd writer if it is new then talk to them But post back please.

Thanks. I see now that I can use cd creator to copy the files from C:\ to E:\ .. no problem. It would be much easier, however, just to go to DOS and copy c:\whatever to e:\ .. but that gets the access denied message.

Hi robert.
If you aren't using WinXP (which has it built in) or a specific driver that allows you to use your CD writer as a drive, then "CD Creator" and the like is your only access to a CDR.
You won't be able to just "copy" to a CDR because the CD format doesn't allow for it.
CDs become "full" if the CDR is "closed" as part of the writing process. WinXP can decide on occasion to close a CDR, and I suppose other software does too.
