Disk cleanup won,t work

I'm using Windows XP. When I run Disk Cleanup,it'll start but always hangs shortly after.Help anyone?

turn off you virus scanner. Ideally you should run disc cleanup,scan disc, defragmenter, system file checker from safe mode. you get to sfemode by tapping f8 repeatedly during reboot immediatly after the beep

i know exectly what your talking about...
1. at command prompt -or- from "run" on the start menu type " %TEMP% " then enter
2. a hidden temp folder is called and opened...delete EVERYTHING in the folder...close the folder and restart your computer
disc clean up should work fine afterwards
