copy paste from whatever to wordpad fails

I can no longer copy from any document or E-Mail and paste it in wordpad. Nothing happens when I click paste. Is there a simple solution?
Copy & Paste still working for notepad.

hilite the text with your by holding down left mouse button and dragging over it. It will turn blue. Click the mouse to deselect and then move cursor to place in your document you want to paste to. Then hold down CTRL key while pressing C. Text is now copied to clipboard. To paste, hold down CTRL and press V. Practice in notepad. Try using X instead of C
