If you are running Win98, you might run the system file checker. Go to Start, Run, type in 'sfc' (do not use the quotes), click OK. The system file checker will scan the hard drive looking for corrupted files. When it finds them (one by one), you will be prompted to insert your Win98 CD-rom. But the files sfc needs should also be located in the Windows/Options/Cabs subdirectory. If you cannot find them, and you do not have a Win CD, write down the names of the missing files (select skip this file until the system file checker utility is finished); then find a friend who is running the same version of Windows, go to his computer, find those files and copy each one on a floppy (in fact, several or all of the files you need may fit on one floppy, depending on how many corrupted files you have). Then go back to your computer and do the sfc command again, and enter A:\name of file - when the system prompts you for the location of the Restore From source.
Hope this works for you; I found 7 corrupted files and restored them. Now my computer works great. Let me know if this works for you.
Also, I notice that your system shows only 52% of system resources free. This seems pretty low at a clean startup. You may have lots of programs running in the background that you do not need. Go to Start, Run, type in 'msconfig' (do not use the quotes) then click on the Startup tab. You can uncheck boxes of programs that are not essential (like MSN Messenger and AOL for example, they are resource 'hogs'). Be careful and only uncheck those files that are not needed for your system to run properly (look at the path to the program to help you determine what you need). You absolutely need Systray and Explorer, so do NOT uncheck those boxes.
