Hi Alis
Your pc might be suffering from a hardware fault rather than software.
If you are happy enough to test the hardware and if necessary change fans, RAM etc then please let us know and we will help. If not then I suggest taking the pc to a repair shop to be fixed.
If you need any more help then please answer the following.
How old is the pc?
Was the pc shipped with Win XP or was the OS upgraded to XP?
When did the computer start giving you the problem?
Can you load the OS in Safe Mode (pressing F8 after BIOS info)?
Do all cooling fans work?
Holding down on/off button for about 4 seconds should turn the pc of f. Does this feature work?
What make and model is your pc?
If you put a bootable diskette in A drive (A drive needs to be set as a higher boot drive than HDD in BIOS).

If it is a new computer and this has happened at the very first boot ... it could be a defective chip.I have experienced the same type of problem.

I have a similar problem.
Just bought PC with windows XP on Wed.
Installed a few store-bought games (Sims).
On Fri., games produced errors, linking me to msn site on the net to update XP to play the games.
3 hour download!
PC fine until this morning. It froze at start-up, and when I tried Ctrl-Alt-Del, nothing, so I left it alone for a few minutes, and then it started running, mind you very slowly. Just got home, same thing.
Is this a virus or a download error?

To uninstall programs you no longer want, go to start>settings>control panel, and double click add/remove programs. Select the program you no longer want, then click remove. To delete files, right click them, and select delete. Just don't delete any files you personally did not make, unless you know what you are doing.
