cd drive cant play audio cds

whenever i put a music cd in my cd drive, either one, it reads it, but when i go into winamp, it wont play it, and it doesnt even recognize the cd in the drive in the windows cd player program.

I had this problem and tried everything..
Try this program..

My issue was only the cd sounds also. Just by a fluke I removed some memory I installed and suddenly it was working again.
This program will isolate the problem and you can go from there.
I am of course assuming you've tried all other recourses.. I.E. check that it is not muted, remove and reinstall drivers, check for problem devices in device manager, etc... Hope this helps.
