Every time I start my computer I get the message that Lite Installer encountered a problem. I have no idea what "Lite Installer" is or where I got it? How do I eliminate this annoyance.

You don't say which version of windows you are running, but if it is XP, then have a look at MSKB 319814

Try this then,
Go to Start | Run
Type in "Msconfig" (without the quotation marks)
Click the Startup Tab
Uncheck liteint.exe
Click Apply
Restart your computer

You might also want to consider deleting it, see this page for my reasons for suggesting this course of action:

this happens if backweb liteinstaller is configured to load at startup. Go to microsoft update and get all critical updates. Also Try opening backweb liteinstaller and find it's settings. (Idont have xp so i don't know if there is a user interface for this program)
changing any load at start up setting should be done thru the programs themselves and not through msconfig. Using msconfig for trouble shooting purposes is what it is designed for not to 'permenently edit startup functions and have seen very wierd problems arising when used for this purpose.

Please tell me what is MSKB 319814, because I
have the same problem in windows XP.

MSKB is short for Microsoft Knowledge Base but if you go directly to http://www.windowsupdate.com you can download all the critical updates from there. MSKB doesn't really tell you any more.

I've just encountered the same problem but not yet sorted out the fix - I think it had something to do with discovering something called BackWeb when I used SpyBot - I removed BackWeb (which had peviously been installed with Kodak EasyShare software version 2.1)and that's when the trouble started

Go Start --Run, type "regedit" in the field provided, click "OK"
and scroll down to HKEY--CURRENT--
USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run and see if
you find any reference to Lite. If so, delete that key. Try the
same for HKEY--LOCAL--MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run.
Then exit Registry Editor and restart your system. Search your
entire system for any reference to Lite and delete it if necessary.
