You are running windows XP without any SP installed? Seems to me you have to install Java.
You can get it here:

W98SE PII 334, 128 mb RAM. I had this problem a while ago and tried all sorts of fixes, like upgrading Java, Repair IE, but in vain, and it resolved itself mysteriously, at some point while I played bridge on Netscape 6. Now it has recurred and I can't fix it. And Netscape 7 doesn't load the Java program completely, renedering it useless. I need to so I can play Bridge online again! I looked at the MS Java site only to find a load of legal ramblings about the Sun issue, no link to reinstall/upgrade VM. Can anyone please help? I've tried again to Repair IE6 in vain. Upgraded to Netscape 7.0 with newer Sun Java software. In vain.
Surely someone in MS or at Sun has identified this problem by now and found a fix?

I too have had this problem of not being able to play Yahoo Games. (gamewindow briefly appears, then disappears) I have gone through the whole process of what Yahoo Game help has suggested.
1)installed Java 2 runtime environment SE 1.4.2_01
2)updated IE.
3)updated XP.
4)cleared the history, cache, etc, etc.

And STILL I am NOT able to get a Yahoo Game to appear.
