http://www.cexx.org/newnet.htm What you have there is a nasty little piece of spyware. The above website will give you instructions on how to remove it from your box so you do not lose your internet connection. Alternatively you can download and run: Lavasoft's AdAware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ Which should remove it for you. Please read the first article before installing and running AdAware as there may be an easier way of removing it. -- this answer was copied from http://www.computing.net/windowsme/wwwboard/forum/11747.html --

I e-mailed the NEWDOT addy and asked for the unistall directions. They tell you to go to their site emable you browser for them, install the latest version of their spyware and then have 4 pages of highly detailed intructions about uninstalling it for you to tediously go through. Why can they do this?

The answer to your problems. I too had the error code "Rundll32.dll has caused an invalid page fault in module NEWDOTNET3_23.DLL at xxx:xxx some address" Anyway I tried all the stuff above with out any thing working. What I did find to work is download a program called Regcleaner from http://www.techtv.com/screensavers/supergeek/story/0,24330,3338390,00.html After installing it run the program and it will list programs that can be deleted from your computer. Check the one that says something like new.net and click continue. That's all there is to it. Reboot the machine and the error is gone. Even if you look in the add/remove program in Control Panel you'll notice the program is no longer mentioned there. I hope this helps you all like it has for me. Paul

I too had the newdotnet3_23.dll error, mainly complained when i was conneceted to the internet and froze the whole computer! I fixed it by disabling it at startup (run > msconfig) and removing it from the registry using the find tool and deleting all mention of the newdotnet3_23.dll (run > regedit) Early days but fingers crossed evrythings fine! I'd love to know where i picked it up from and exactly what it does though, anyone?

My problem with the rundll32 is that all the icon in the control panel give this rundll32 error everytime I try to run one of this programs. The problem I beleived caused this is that I installed a philips CD-R/RW in my system and then run the software to check if it installed properly. Then I installed easy cd creator 5 basic which came with the philips hardware but the intallation didn't succeed but I was anyway able to create and burn a cd directly. The problem then started 2 days after the installation of the new hardware. Now I get this rundll32 error everytime I try to start programs that are dependant on rundll32. My system is: PII dubble Processor 11G HD 65MB RAM Windows 98/Windows 2000 PRO Philips CD-R/RW IBM CD 24 speedand the rundll32 error I get for each apps that I start is RUNDLL32 caused an invalid page fault in module rundll32.exe at 0167:1000ab5e. I even tried to delete all related files to the directcd from the registry but the problem still persist. Please note that I do not have this newdotnet installed on my system. infact I have very few programs installed in my system and almost most of the function without problem. Of course I also received the RUNDLL error message with the NEWDOT..page fault. I just simply went to TechTv's web site and downloaded RegCleaner. It worked perfectly and removed the error message from my system. I have tried everything else...but this actually works. So I suggest you go there immediately to solve your problem.I would also have to aggree that this "spy" program did come from the Kazaa community..so now that I have RegCleaner I can get rid of any spy that is thrown at my pc. I hope this has helped.

Actually, I think the new.net software is installed via iMesh. It is luckily installed with an uninstall script, so all you have to do to remove it's reference from your startup is go to Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel. If you deleted the uninstall script somehow, or don't see the new.net reference in your Add/Remove programs applet, push WINDOWS KEY + R to call up the 'RUN' command window, and type msconfig (provided you are running Windows 98). Go to the startup tab and select STARTUP (the last tab), look for the new.net reference, and remove it. This also gives you the chance to stop other annoying programs from starting up on Windows boot, too. If you are using a later version of Windows, e.g. Windows XP, try using the RegCleaner program mentioned earlier in this thread, and if that doesn't work, call up the 'RUN' command dialog and type: regedit. In Registry Editor search for the string 'new.net' or '.net' or something until you find the reference, and remove it. It should be in the /RUN or /RUN- key. Hope this helps. You're welcome to email me if you have any serious, intelligent questions regarding anything mentioned here.

Hi , our telecon of today morning refers. Missing NewDot .dll message at startup.
I think I may be able to help some of you with this NewDot~1.dll or NewDot~_.dll problem. With the help of some great software, I was able to correct the same missing .dll error message I was experiencing. Simply download the RegCleaner from http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/shtml/regcleaner.shtml and use the "start up" menu tab from the list, where you should find a list of computer start up items including New Net or NewDot.Net etc. Just check the box next to this, and click "remove item" at the bottom. This should fix the error. I hope it works for you! Good luck, and thanks again to the designers of the FREE RegistryCleaner software!!!

BE CAREFUL WITH REGEDIT. Any information that is deleted in there will be lost for all eternity. You can't get it back. Only experienced people should use it, otherwise you might end up having to reinstall everything on your computer. If you do use regedit, you should back up you HDD first.

If you tried everything (eg deletign new dot net app from your pc) and you're still lumbered with problems (eg error msg on startup, cannot receive data when connected to the internet etc) then you need to edit your registry file. Search google, i did and found an answer on a forum on computing.net heres the message someone posted, this should fix it :) best of luck.. ** Name: Ken Date: January 17, 2002 at 18:57:02 Pacific Subject: newdotnet3_23.dll Reply: Finally! The real solution to this problem. I am copying below the response I got from the folks that created this problem. Their solution really works. ken We apologize for the inconvenience caused. If you are unaware of how the New.net application was installed on your computer, we currently have agreements with the following companies to bundle our plug-in with their downloadable software: BearShare Webshots Kazaa Previously, we were bundled with the following software companies: Go!Zilla iMesh Babylon Cydoor GDivx If you did not actually visit our website, http://www.new.net and install our plug-in, one of these companies is the most likely source of the plug-in on your computer. -- -- If your computer has access to the Internet, then it is recommended to update our software first so that a proper uninstall may occur. Please visit http://www.new.net and click on Enable your browser in the top right corner of anyone of our pages. Please follow the prompts to install our software. After installation, please reboot your computer. Once the computer is back up, please check to see if you still get any error messages. If you no longer receive any error messages then you have the choice of keeping our software installed or uninstalling it. If you choose to uninstall our software, then you may do so by selecting New.net Application through Add/Remove Programs. If the error messages persist and you are still unable to uninstall our plug-in then please follow the steps below: Here are directions to remove the plug-in from the registry. The procedure below is very detailed. Please follow each step carefully. If you have a question or are not sure about a particular step, please ask as soon as possible. Also, if you would rather a technician walk you through this procedure over the phone; please call us at (818) 385-2000, Monday through Friday between 8am and 5pm Pacific Standard Time. Create a backup Registry file in case you experience further problems: 1. Click Start 2. Click Run 3. Type in "regedit" 4. Click OK 5. Highlight "My Computer" on the left 6. Click the Registry menu at the top and select "Export Registry File" 7. Name the file "backup" and save it to your Desktop. [This is just in case you make a mistake in the procedures below. Should you do so, locate the "backup" file on your Desktop and double-click it. Select Yes and your registry will be restored.] Check for New.net Startup: 1. In the left pane of the Registry Editor, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, click the "+" sign next to Software 2. Click the "+" sign next to Microsoft 3. Click the "+" sign next to Windows 4. Click the "+" sign next to Current Version 5. Click on the Run folder 6. On the right, locate the line that reads "New.net Startup" and delete it Remove "New.net Application" from Add/Remove Programs: 1. Under the same Current Version folder from above, click the "+" sign next to Uninstall 2. Locate the "New.net" folder and delete it Remove the New.net software folder: 1. In the left pane of the Registry Editor, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, under "Software" 2. Locate the "New.net" folder and delete it Close the open folders above by clicking once on the small "-" signs next to them. Locate "Catalog Entries" folder: 1. Under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder, click the small "+" (plus) sign next to System 2. Click the small "+" sign next to CurrentControlSet 3. Click the small "+" sign next to Services 4. Click the small "+" sign next to WinSock2 5. Click the small "+" sign next to Parameters. You should see 2 folders, "NameSpace_Catalog5" and "Protocol_Catalog9". 6. Click the small "+" signs next to both of them 7. Inside both folders, you should see a "Catalog_Entries" folder. Open each of them. 8. Within each of those folders are numbered folders (i.e. 001, 002, etc.) For the "NameSpace_Catalog5" numbered folders: A. First, make note of how many folders there are B. Highlight the first one C. On the righthand side, locate the line "Library Path" D. In that line, the rightmost column should begin with something similar to "C:\windows" or "%SystemRoot%". E. Locate any of the numbered folders that read "C:\windows\newdotnet2_109.dll" (or similar) in the "Library Path" line F. Delete only those folders referring to "newdotnet" G. If needed, rename each numbered folder so that they are all consecutive. For example, if there were 4 folders and you deleted folders the first 2, you will need to rename the remaining folders "001" and "002". H. Do this by right-clicking the folder name, left-click Rename and then type in the new number (be absolutely sure you don't delete any of the zeros). I. Next, highlight the "NameSpace_Catalog5" folder on the lefthand side. J. On the right, locate the "Num_Catalog_Entries" line. At the end of this line is a number in parentheses. K. Edit that number by doing the following: i. Double-click "Num_Catalog_Entries" ii. In the small pop-up window, select "Decimal" iii. Edit the value of the number on the left to reflect the number of remaining folders (in the case of the example in step G above, you would enter 2) iv. Click OK For the "Protocol_Catalog9" numbered folders: A. First, make note of how many folders there are B. Highlight the first one C. On the righthand side, you will see a line beginning with "PackedCatalogItem". Double-click on that word and a small windows will pop-up. D. In this window, several columns appear with numbers and letters. At the top of the last column appears a path that will say, "C:\WINDOWS\NEWDOTNET~.DLL" or "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\..." followed by a long list of characters. E. Look through each of the numbered folders and delete only those that indicate "C:\WINDOWS\NEWDOTNET~.DLL" in the "Edit Binary Value" window described above. In other words, if you find a reference to "NEWDOTNET..." in the "Edit Binary Value" window, close the window first (click "Cancel"), then highlight the numbered folder on the left you were checking and delete it. If the folder does not say "C:\WINDOWS\NEWDOTNET..." in the TOP RIGHT corner only, DO NOT delete it. NOTE: You should find it in either 2 or 4 folders total. If you do not, double-check the folders and if it's still the same, just move on to the next step. F. Rename each remaining numbered folder so that they are all consecutive. For example, if there were 13 folders and you deleted 2 of them, you will need to rename the remaining folders "001" through "0011". G. Do this by right-clicking the folder name, left-click Rename, press the "End" key on your keyboard once (next to "Delete"), press "Backspace" once, then type in the new number (**be absolutely sure you don't delete any of the zeros) and then press "Enter". H. Next, highlight the "Protocol_Catalog9" folder on the lefthand side. I. On the right, locate the "Num_Catalog_Entries" line. At the end of this line is a number in parentheses. J. Edit that number by doing the following: i. Double-click "Num_Catalog_Entries" ii. In the small pop-up window, select "Decimal" iii. Edit the value of the number on the left to reflect the number of remaining folders (in the case of the example in step F above, you would enter 11) iv. Click OK Again, you may close all open folders. Close the Registry Editor. Your changes will be automatically saved. Reboot your computer and attempt to access a website. See Step 6 (Registry backup) above if you experience other unusual computer problems. If your Internet access has been restored, we recommend you delete the registry backup file by doing the following: 1. On your Windows desktop, locate the "backup" file that was created in the Backup Registry procedure above. 2. Delete the file and remove it from your Recycle Bin also. Please let us know if this helps and if you have any further problems or questions. (c)2001 New.net, Inc. All rights reserved. Gerald L Robinson II Customer Support New.net 818-385-2000

I got a newdotnet dll (which often causes probmems with rundll32) with the pro version of Gozilla (old version), it did not include the uninstall in add/suppress programs (usually it's there, but not this time). I'm trying to hook up with Verizon DSL but before I could do that, I had to install an ethernet card (a plugnplay). While installing the drivers and software for dsl, I got this message: Exception ESock Error in module RUN.DL @ 000703BD. 10038: Socket operation on non-socket." Does this mean the ethernet card is not compatable with my computer or do I have a bad file? How can I fix this???

I was getting the error "Rundll32 caused an invalid page fault in module NEWDOTNET3_23.dll". I went to Start, run, typed in msconfig and removed it from the startup. I rebooted my PC and this had corrected the problem.

When I attempted to enter in the "Mail" portion of my Internet Explorer browser, I recieve this message:
"Cannot find rundll32.exe (or one of it's components). Make sure the path and file name are correct and all required libraries are available"
What does this mean, and how do I fix it?
Thanks!

The Rundll32 thing ie has caused an error in newdotnet3-23.dll, I must also agree with Matt and Linda as I to have Kazaa and my problems when I think about it started back then.

I just experienced the FLT.DLL problem, Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer (My Computer, etc.) would all cause an exception error blowout. Restart in MSDOS mode and delete C:\Program Files\flt\*.* - this is a spyware program, go to GOOGLE and search for FLT.DLL for more extensive information, there is also some registry cleanup that should be done, but the above "delete" will stop the exception errors.

I had the RUNDLL error message and when I connected to the internet, even though I was connected, I could not get into any web pages as I received a "can not find web page or server' message. I went thru all the messages above. I downloaded regcleaner. I eliminated all new.dot or new.net software. I eliminated Kazaa etc. I also eliminated Ad aware. The good news is my error message is gone. The bad news is I still can not navigate or receive any web pages or e mail. I tried reloading windows 98 and their second edition update. Still no luck. When I search for any newdot*.dll files no files are found so I believe they are gone but problem persists. Any ideas? Thank you very much for any help.

okay, the problem I'm getting has been posted by others on this site but I haven't actually found a solution posted.
At startup I get the Dll error stating:
Cannot find specified file
c:/progra~1\newdot~1\newdot~1.dll
I think that because of this I can't enter Internet Explorer. I get the message that page cannot be displayed.
Please help.
address the solution to me so I know that that's the one I should follow. Thanks

I think the problem is caused by running a programm that searches spyware and cookies, I used add-aware 6.0. When it was finished it listed the spyware, when I removed all off it, the problems begun.
I had installed Kazaa 2.10 dutch version, and also I-mesh. When I rebooted the machine I also got the message, Couldn't find NEWDOT.DLL.
I tried restore points, and also removing and installing again IExplorer. Nothing worked, Wich causes this problem now???
Thus anybody now??
Greetings, WAX >

I also had a newdot.dll problem in my computer. I was not able to contact internet, always the message "could not find server". I am glad I found this page so I know I am not the only one with this problem.
Thanks to Marsky (04/26/02) I cleaned my registry from plu-ins. My computer is clean again and it can find the server again!!!
