Was reading some of the stuff on your site about it being a good idea just to run a on line scan every now and again so i thought what the heck here is what i saw when i did it.
The page that you have requested does not exist or is not available at www.pandasoftware.com
Hows that for a oxymoron?
The rest of the list on the link page did pretty much the same thing. One even asked me to run it through IE what's up with that? I had to load plug ins to view it and still got shot down >>>

John,

Online scans require an activex is downloaded from the online scan site. If you are using a browser like firefox, the ability of axtivex has not been enabled in that browser because that is how the majority of Malware is transmitted, this is why we recommend it!

If you use a IE browser (fully patched!!) with activex downloads enabled the activex will come to your IE browser and then the scan will work.

Also note: if you wish to get windows updates from microsoft then that also uses activex so a IE browser is required for that site as well.

kind regards

No problem John, make no mistake Firefox browser is 100 times more secure that IE, because of that reason, IE uses Java script and activex which is how the majority of hijackers and malware is sent to your pc, Firefox does not! so web hijackers and malware has no method (via a badly coded web page or unrequested downloads) to install any of its code.. so you remain protected.

Its just that Activex gives the source site the same access privilages to your machine as any 'trusted' site as deemed in your firewall, ans as we all know 'trusted' generally has a lower security setting that 'internet'. this is why Microsoft need to have it enabled when they scan your pc for updates, and online scanners need it, so they too can scan your machine without being blocked.

Of cause it is best to keep IE on your PC (fully patched of course) just so you can use the microsoft updates pages, however, anyone who reads this post, I hope will also consider changing browsers for their general surfing needs?!

regards
