HELP..graphics converter problem!

08/09/04 		Neither Paint nor Photo Editor recognizes .jpg files & the Save As menu in the My Pictures folder does not list file extensions for anything except .art (what is this?) & bitmap.

With help, I installed all of the graphics converters to Run All From My Computer & checked the Registry...jpg is there. I have Windows 98 & OfficePro 2000. Short of a major overhaul, what can I do to get my computer to recognize & display my .jpg files like it did before I upgraded to 2000?

Any help to correct this problem will be GREATLY appreciated as I cannot see the updated pics of my grandchildren until the .jpg format is recognized.

Also, I tried to update Office & got this message: 'MS Office 2000 SR-1 Update could not download the Office 2000 SR-1 Core Update.' I was downloading directly from Microsoft's Update section. What is wrong?

08/09/04 		locate a JPG file on your machine. then hold down Left SHIFT and right click on the JPG file choose OPEN WITH and then scrole down to your painting package, click once on the painting package and choose OPEN (or OK depending on your OS) JPG's will then be associated with that package.

08/14/04 		STILL graphics converter problem!
On Aug 9, I posted to get help with a graphics converter problem. My computer no longer recognizes .jpg files & when the 'Save As' window comes up I have 2 choices: .art or bitmap (.jpg, .gif, etc. are nowhere to be found). I tried the fix that mikeyb suggested & STILL get the message 'Format not found.' Is there another solution to this problem? I really want to see the updated pics of my grandchildren. Thanks
