I have a new brother in law that is a linuz whiz kid, and he is trying to convince me that i should stop using IE 6.0 and that I should start using this Mozilla - Firefox as web browswer. He says it is 100 times more secure than IE. (he goes on to say that IE should be outlawed...) now i dont' care about the outlawing of IE, but i was wondering if anyone has any expericnce, good or bad, with this mozilla...

hugs and kisses in advance,

I (as all the helpers on this site) do recommend mozilla (I have not tried Firefox but everyone around here seems to be saying that it is as good). I really saw a difference when I switched from IE to Mozilla. what used to be running safely for my comp is now considered really dangerous.

Hey Randi, Timoi and your new b-i-l are both right. IE is nothing else than target practice for hackers these days... It's still full of flaws that are being exploited all the time. I've been running FireFox since January, and both Ad-Aware and SpyBot have been "silent" ever since...

FireFox (as is Mozilla) is safe, very safe, quick, easy to use and kinda fun ! Once installed, go to "Tools" > "Themes" and change the "look" of it. Go to "Tools" > "Extensions", and get a bunch of cool add-ons that make the browser better fit your needs. Sun Java works beautifully with it. You'll love it...

Keep IE for Windows Update and online virus scans, if needed (they both use ActiveX, which is one of IE's biggest security holes !)

Thanks... The brother in law is great, but I just thought I'd check with the "experts" before I started in. I was on vacation at his house all last week and it worked fine while i was using it...

Thanks again...
