how do i port scan? what package is best. I want to find out the passwords for a web site.

what?? you want to portscan and find out passwords? that is not what a portscanner does. A port scanner is for detecting which ports are open\closed\or hidden on a network or ip address.

my friend told me that i can connect to a port number on a web site and it will be then moniter the port and then will tell me the password of the site ! this is what i want.

I think what you are after is Port Sniffing, also, what you are after is 'illegal' if the site is not yours! you will not get help from this forum, we do not condone hacking in any form. the ability to moniter ports are for network administrators - which you do not sound like, or hackers!
