go to windows explorer, then click on Tools at the top, go down to Folder Options, then click on View tab, scroll down and UNCHECK the box that says "hide file extensions for known file types", click OK, go back to your iso file, right click->rename, then delete the extension .exe replace with .iso. (PS: renaming extension does not work all the time, but u can try)

I'm assuming, correct me if I'm wrong, your ISO is in ISO.EXE file extension, maybe this might help you..First: you need to Rename the iso.exe to iso, Second: get yourself a program called ISOBUSTER (doesn't matter which version) Third: open the iso with isobuster to view the contents, afterward extract objects(meaning the files contained in the iso) to where you want to store/burn from. HINT: extract only 3-4 folders/files at
a time to ensure no errors or data loss during extraction to the destination path. Finally:open your burner program and start burning __P.S. sometimes renaming the file won't take affect till you restart(if your using windows) just in case the filename doesn't change at first.

burn vs virtual burn
Instead of burning those files into a cd, you can also use a virtual cd rom drive. VirtualDrive 7.0 by FarStone is a good choice. Such program simulates a real cd rom drive. (this is useful for those who don't have a cd burner, like me).

Don't convert *.iso to exe. Just burn the CDROM then use Windows Explorer on the newly burned CDROM to find the exe file you need.
An ISO file is a big binary lump prepared special for burning a CD. Just run the ISO through the burn process and all will be well.
When you start your CD software it will ask what type of CD you want to create and it will ask for source. Each program is different. Some where you'll find a way to select a burn from an ISO file.

Lets say I have something this, "game.iso.exe". Now, in order to make this work I have to get rid of the "exe" after the "iso" rite? Renaming it, just pretty much deleting the exe after the iso. After that is done, can burn it using Easy CD Creator? When its done, and I access the CD, will it work? If I screwed up, can put in detail what I need to do, just re-assure me...please.

An .ISO file is an image file - but not in the same sense as a jpeg or gif image file - it is an image of a CD file system (which can contain any files, not just graphical image files). The file extension of .ISO (from where the files get their common name) comes from the file system that is used on CDs: "ISO9660" (International Standards Organisation, specification# 9660) - it is the CD counterpart of FAT16/32, NTFS, etc.
.ISO files are also commonly named *.RAW or sometimes *.BIN, because they are a raw binary dump of the CD - if a CD is 643MB full (say), the .ISO file created from it will be 643MB, also. It contains everything on the CD, including directories, translation tables (for long file names) and the files themselves, but in the format that they are layed down on a CD (the "file system"). So, you can't browse an .ISO file - not until you write it back onto a CD (where the CD drivers will understand the layout).
CDRWin is an excellent program for this.

don't give up, i had the exact same thing happen to me. Look through everyfile, and I mean EVERY FILE and FOLDER you can find. There must be something different or odd about it. Try and view the file, it might gibe you instructions on what to do to make it work. Hint Hint(Razor)Hint Hint(Two Files need to be replaced);) don't give up, i swear, the same thing happens to me, if u really want to play the game, don't give up learning and beating the system! >:)

I renamed my iso.exe file to iso. Nero succesfully burned it onto my CD. However, when I open the CD there is no data (i.e. the game doesn't start and the explorer window is blank). I know the data is there because XP shows that the disk if full. Also Note: Nero Image Drive doesn't recognize my newly rename .iso files either? Does this have anything to do with it? Please Help!

Beat the system eh? Sheesh, n00b.
Anyway, I don't know about the Warcraft 3 problem, but the easiest thing to do is rename the blabla.iso.exe to blabla.iso. Sometimes some games that you will download, will just be called blabla.exe, and you need to rename them to blabla.iso.
You can also create virtual cd-roms with Daemon Tools. I suggest for all games that you download, (If you don't plan on deleting the file, or reformatting your hard drive) to use it in a virtual drive. You don't have to worry about your hard copy and its always in the virtual drive.
You guys need to be more detailed as the gurus can answer your question. Instead of saying you downloaded a file from the internet, tell them what file you downloaded.
Also, here are some good programs:
Clone CD
WinISO
WinRAR (Opens ISO files)
Magic ISO
Daemon Tools
ISO Buster
If you can't see the files on the CD, I would suggest that you use a virtual CD rom and run it that way. Also, try opening it with ISO Buster or burning it again with Clone CD instead. Just keep trying.

You need a no-cd crack to play it without having the original cd in the drive.
Try going to gamecopyworld, and overwriting the original warcraft.exe file with the new no-cd exe.

This is a volunteer forum. Some folks generously answers questions. There is no "supposed to" about it.
We've been lucky to have a great group of folks willing to answer most questions.
Often you will find a question ignored when the answer to a question very much like it is on the page already.
If you've tried to use the already given answers, say so. Tell people that you tried the other answer and it did not work. And if possible exactly how it did not work.
If you look above you'll see reference to other programs beside WinISO. Maybe one of them will work better or give a more instructive error message.
If you read "netsurf" answer you might try unhiding extensions to make sure your file is not called xx.iso.exe
Or, perhaps that's not the problem.
But before requiring folks to address your question make sure it is not already answered and if it is not answered ask you question in such a way that it is obvious that your question goes further than the others.

I've downloaded a ISO.exe file for grand theft auto vice city (CD1). I've attempted to run it with ISOBuster and WinISO. I've tryed ISO BIN and CUE formats. I get a Cannot open File : "It appears to be an invalid format image" with all three extentions with ISOBuster either with raw data wich i get an error and asked to input either all nulls or my own combanations, or i can make a TAO file wich is still useless. I'm actualy quite experianced with this and I'm stumped. Either I have a corrupt file (entierly plausable and highly likly) or there is somthing I've over looked. If there is anything you see that I could do would be a great help. . . this is why I prefer mIRC less crytic files without explanations . . .give me a bin and a cue file and my winACE and DAMEON tools works just fine . . .but touch a . . ."user freindly" P2P and somthings bound to go awry. . . .also the second file I downloaded works fin as a bin. . . . much luck to the rest of you. . . and Bob it's quite disturbing that you would fancy sexual relations with my or anyones mother. . .please save the inaine chatter for the water cooler.

Game.dll error when installing Warcraft3
I have downloaded several versions of the warcraft3 iso.exe file. I can make cd images of them and run the install however, In every case I recieve a game.dll error message when attempting to install the game.I am using Razor1911 version of the .iso and using isobuster to view the files before changing the name from .exe to .iso Everything goes well with the cd image creation. I put the cd back into the cd drive and th autorun sequence begins. I then apply the key from Razors keygen and it begins to install. Then, as all looks like it's going to be a successfull install, a window comes up saying "this application has encountered a critical error" then it lists a file called files100/Game.dll. Can anyone help me with this?

To the person using an virtual CD-ROM drive:
Some times you can switch drive letters with your real CD-ROM to trick some of the games that are smart enough to know it's not talking to a real CD-ROM drive. On XP you can go into Disk Management and right click the drive to change the drive letter.Then add a virtual drive to the drive letter that it used to be and insert an image. I use Paragon CD-ROM Emulator.

You are going to have some seriously problems with Heroes 4, my friend...I've been working on mine for the past 5 days.
First of all blueghost, you need to tell me what the extension of that file is... if it is .zip or .rar (most DEViANCE stuff is rar-ed) than unzip or unrar it. After that, there should be files that end with .bin or .iso, possibly even .nrg or .cue. If it is .nrg, .cue, or .iso, you need to get a version of Nero burning ROM and select the "Burn Image" command. If it is a .bin, use magic iso or another conversion software to convert it into a .iso file and then burn it.
Hope that helps. You might want to update Heroes 4 too, it is soo buggy as an original version.

I have noticed that many of you are having problems with .exe to .iso files. As many in this forum have explained, the easiest way to rename the file to .iso is to just right click on the .exe and rename it to .iso. I wont go into detail of how to get a program to work, but go to this link and it should help you. http://www.halo.00freehost.com/ I know that it says halo, but it should help you with a good number of the "games" that you are all trying to get to work.

I have a problem that I have been trying to fix myself for a while now. I just cant seem to figure it out. I have a cab file (cab3.cab) that has one corrupt file within. There are 9 files within this .cab file I know exactly which file is corrupt, and I now have an uncorrupt copy of the same file. But the problem I am having is, I cant extract the remaining 8 files within that .cab file, because of the one corrupt file. Niether WinRar or WinZip will allow me to extract all the files excecpt the corrupt file. I need to know if anyone can tell me how I can get all of the uncorrupted files out of my .cab file so that I can create and compress a new .cab file with the uncorrupted file that I have to replace the corrupt one. Please, someone help me.

thank you for the info. but I have windows xp. when I downloded from the site link that you provided, I installed, but there was only a cabview.inf and no cabview.exe I tried finding cabview.exe on the microsoft website and apparently they no longer offer that program. do you know of any others that I could use? In the meantime, I am going to attempt the extract.exe that you mentioned.

I have recently downloaded flt-halo.iso. There is one map that is corrupt in cab6. I want to know how to replace that file and save it back to flt-halo.iso.
Do I deconstruct the flt-halo.iso file, replace the corrupt map and somehow reconstruct it again?
If anyone have any ideas, i will greately appreciate it.

hey thanks globlal for the advice, I found d20.map file. Now if only I can find the patch32w.dll file for halo I deleted, I'd be in business. haha. As for Civic Drifter, download ACDZip. It easily lets you open up the cab directories and import or export the map files.

You can use WinISO to extract the files or ADD an remove New Ones, of course you'll lose the CD-Protection info, but you can use a cracked exe, like the one at:

This works with the latest patch 1.04 that you can download at Microsoft (at time of writing)
this are the instructions:
No-CD Instructions:
* Install the game - Full Installation.
* Apply the official Halo v1.04 Patch.
* Replace the original HALO.EXE executable with the one from the File Archive.
* Play the Game!
Now concerning this patch32w.dll how did you deleted it? where it was? what was the source?

Hey, thanks for the tip james global. I tried using another program to modify the flt-halo.ISO file, but unfortunately it can only extract not modify. So i just extracted the game, made modifications, and installed it. The Halo game worked except for a multiplayer problem. The extraction of the file prob. caused it.
I'll try using WinISO next time.

Is it normal for a copied Halo game to have a multiplayer problem?
The game only displays a small amount of servers to play on (5-10). I know thats not normal because my friend has an original copy and his displays hundreds of servers.
It cant be the filters because i set them all to ANY.
Is this normal for a copied game or just my copy?
If anyone have any ideas, i will greately appreciate it.
