Every time I tried to open a browser my home page would start to load then at the bottom instead of saying finding:my home page it went crazy and continually tried to load badurl.greenstreetinteractive.com. I used hijack to do some work as described below from the old thread and then was told not to use hijack without help. I am a tech but can always learn and this bug has hurt me. This is the last note from the previous thread and I've started a new one as asked.

Snowman, thanks for the program info. I used hijackthis to find some problems. All the other programs required a registration code after installation and thats not possible when you can't get online and I can't install it on someone elses PC just to get the number. Anyway Hijack this enabled me to delete 5 Browser Help Utilities and now my IE does not look for the bad url when I start it up. However I'm still not getting online. My L.A.N. connection shows all kinds of packets being sent but none being recieved. It's been that way since this problem started so there's another bug in there somewhere along with the bad url. I went to my event viewer and found several automatic DNS and TCP/IP changes that were red flagged but in my configuration it all looks normal. About the only thing I haven't done is physically remove my NIC and reinstall it. Since Windows 2000 automatically configures a LAN when a NIC card is installed you can't remove it from the device manager so that might be my next move. However I have never seen a LAN connection be able to send packets with out being able to recieve any. Does anybody know anything about this or seen it before? Everything shows my NIC to be working fine, it's just not recieving packets. It's got to be a configuration problem made by that bad url thing. My PC is a pain to get to so I'd rather not pull that NIC but if that's the only way I can re-configure it I will. I've never seeen software that can actually ruin hardware but this thing is killing me. Does anybody know of any other boards that have posts like this on them?

Browser: IE
OS: Windows 2000
