Hey,

what should I do here? I get an annoying error message on two different games I try to install: Disciples II and NASCAR 2002. (Explorer crashes upon either autorunning or browsing the CDs for the first and any subsequent times.)

**
EXPLORER caused an exception 01H in module KERNEL32.DLL at 0177:bff712c5.

Both these games bringing problems have been purchased after I bought LG CD-RW in the end of last year and no other discs have problems whatsoever. My CD-R drive is Sony CDU5211. Fiddling with hardware profiles do not help here. Has my Win98SE 4.10.22 A something wrong in it or is there really any way to fix this?

BR,
Tinke.

I had this problem also but found out what it was.
I had changed a file on my comp to enable me to extract sound files from music disc...the file I changed is called CDFS.VXD...I had to change the file back to it's original that came with win98...now all is as right as rain.

Try this fix:

goto RUN on your start menu and type:

SFC

hit return, this will open windows system file checker. Now select
'Extract one file from installation disk',
in the field below this type:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS\cdfs.vxd

hit return.

ps. Make sure you have your windows cd in the cd tray so it can copy the file over.

Let me know if this fix has sorted your problem.
