Until recently, clicking on a webpage graphic link (text/thumbnail) in IE 5.0 would display the full-size graphic in IE. But something has changed. Now, clicking the graphic link initiates a download of the file, then starts the graphics application (associated with the file type in Windows Explorer) to view the file. Can't find any settings in IE that might have been altered. Would like to have the previous "click & view" method restored. Any suggestions short of reinstalling IE?

My first suggestion is probably something you have already done over and over again, that would be to hunt through each of the preferences sections of IE. My second suggestion would be to perhaps set IE as the preferred viewer for jpg. Maybe you installed a graphics program recently which reset the preferred viewer as itself. Worth taking a loot at. Or, if it's poking around viewing graphics in large and small format that interests you then consider Opera -- http://www.opera.com They have a very handy magnifying feature. It will show images in magnification from 20% to 1000%. This will expand all page elements including jpg and gif and even animated gifs. :Until recently, clicking on a webpage graphic link (text/thumbnail) in IE 5.0 would display the full-size graphic in IE. Re: Web JPG's "downloading" instead of "viewing"
I understand the problem you have encountered. I have had the same problems myself. The thing I HAVE learned is that sometimes simply comparing notes with another person that has the same OS version as you and does not suffer from the same problems as you, can be helpful and informative: 1. Go to any folder and open it. 2. Go to VIEW. 3. Open FOLDER OPTIONS. 4. Select the FILE TYPES tab. 5. Find the first JPEG instance and doubleclick. 6. Look to ACTIONS: It should say "OPEN" 7. Highlight "OPEN" by clicking on it once. 8. Select edit. 9. The form/popup you see should read something like this: ACTION - OPEN APPLICATION USED TO PERFORM THIS ACTION - "C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\iexplore.exe" -nohome USE DDE - Should be selected DDE MESSAGE - "file:%1",,-1,,,,, APPLICATION - IExplore DDE APPLICATION NOT RUNNING - *Nothing here* TOPIC - WWW_OpenURL ================================================ I hope this helps.... By the way, your CONTENT TYPE(MIME)should be - image/jpeg and the extention should be .jpg . Peace.

Re: Web JPG's "downloading" instead of "viewing"
I'm having the same problem, I've tried the suggestions, but it still does not work. I think it may be because of some programs I have like Microsoft PhotoEditor because when I would click on a link to an image, the image would download and open with that program. I tried the 2nd suggestion, but now IExplore doesn't even open the image, sure, the program opens, but it doesnt display the image. Is my problem diffrent? Or do I just need to do something extra?
