I constantly get one pop-up. It's a small window (approx 4" x 4"), called "I hate Pop-ups" has a stop sign on it and I guess is an ad for something that will stop pop-ups
(although I wouldn't need to stop pop-ups if this damn ad didnt keep popping up!!)
when I get home from work there is sometimes 8-10 of these windows, exactly the same
anyone else have this? how do I get rid of it? Is it something that has 'latched-on' to my computer? I've ran Spybot and it doesnt seem to get rid of it.
any advice??

funny spybot doesnt catch it however I hear about illegitimate clones of spybot and ad-aware that people have downloaded and have installed spyware I wonder if that is the situation. Check your running processes/programs for anything suspicious.

I did a little research on this and it seems that the pop-up could be related to Coolweb.
I think the CW-shredder might take care of it, I'll give it a try.

Guys, I read Dans' post and see something about a "Stop Sign" ! Sh.., hope it isn't Stop-Sign !!! BTW Dan, Stop-Sign (known as eanthology) is a freakin' pest. Do a quick search for "eacceleration" files on your computer, and look in Control Panel (Add/Remove Programs) for any signs of eanthology. Please come back and say you haven't found that piece of sh..!!!

Todor, you could have a variant of Coolweb (spyware). You need to download a tool called CW-shredder. Here's a link for it :
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html
Scroll down to "Official Downloads" and get CW-shredder. Unzip it, run it, UPDATE IT, then close all other programs and click "Fix". Reboot.

Task".
- For Windows XP/NT/2000: Click on "Processes" tab, search for
"defscangui.exe" and press "End Process".

(In XP: Click Start > Control Panel.)

I found that if I kill the process "rundll32.exe" om my task manager the "I HATE POP-UPS" windows stop popping-up. This is not a good fix because the next time I turn on my computer the "rundll32.exe" is there again along with the pop-ups. At least I can stop them for the current session. Here is a link to another forum that discusses "rundll32.exe"
