Hotbar, registry key

I was "infected" with hotbar and ran hotbar's uninstall program to remove the files associated with it. I ran adaware as a follow up and found some leftovers. However, I came across a site beforehand where the author said his computer crashed when he removed his hotbar files with an adaware type program (the aforementioned website: http://www.custom-toolbars.com/popular-toolbars/hotbar/remove-hotbar/default.asp).

I've never had a problem with adaware before, but I've been reluctant to delete what I found, which is the hotbar registry keys. Is anyone aware of whether deleting the registry keys would cause any problems to my system?

Hi Chris. I've deleted Hotbar with SpyBot a few times on different computers. No problems with deleting reg files. I think Ad-Aware has a backup folder where deleted files rest. Check your settings, make sure their's a backup of the deleted reg file if it'll make you sleep better. Ad-Aware and SpyBot are both great tools, and quite safe ; when files are listed for destruction, don't be shy.
