A friend sent me an E-mail with an attachment when highlighting this, I get the error message "current security settings prohibit running active x controls on this page." The attachment will not open and some of the preiously received attachments from him now also cannot be opened.
Help !!

Open Internet Explorer. Click on tools, internet options. Click on the security tab and then click on the "custom level" button at the bottom. You can manually enable active X controls here. If this does not solve the issue please post back.

Thanks Teri your answer is the same as I got from other sources. Unfortunately it hasn't worked I'm grateful for your reply, any further suggestions?

Sorry the previous information wasn't more helpful Frank. Have you tried redownloading IE6 with SP1? Just redownload overtop of your current installation. What version of windows are you running?

One more question Frank. What email client are you using when you receive this message?

I would think twice before lowering your security settings. If this is a friend sending you the attachment, then perhaps they can send the attachment in such a manner that lowered security is not required.

This can mean a little extra hassle, but it can also mean a little extra security.

Just a thought.
