MS Word save and close files very slow

I use MS Word 97 on OS Windows 98 on a PIV. For the past one week, closing documents in MS Word has become dead slow and it takes up to a minute to close a file. I don't run any other programs while working on MS Word. Please help.

Don't know if it will help or not -usually does with Word problems - click on Start-Find-Files and Folders and look for the normal.dot file. When you find it, rename it (by right clicking on it and choosing rename) to normal.old. Then restart Word. Word will re-create the Normal.dot file and should then work correctly.
